We’ve got your back for those unexpected times when you don’t have enough funds in your checking account to pay for expenses.  Whether it’s a bill, a recurring expense, or an everyday purchase with your debit card, we have several options to help you out.

Overdraft Line of Credit

You can have access to up to $2,000 to cover checking account transactions*. Since you only pay interest if the line of credit is used, you can save money on overdraft fees.

No fees to open, only pay interest on the amount you use to cover an overdraft

If you already have a checking account, apply within your mobile or online banking account ** or click here. Otherwise you can apply at account opening or call us at (800) 533-0035 or stop by a branch to discuss your options.  

 

Overdraft Protection Sources

Link to your Credit Union account(s) to help cover items you’re paying from your checking account. If you don't have enough money to cover a charge, we'll transfer funds from your eligible linked accounts in increments of $100 or the available balance of your share account if your balance is less than $100.

What are the fees?

A $5 fee¹ applies for each transfer.  

How do I sign up?

Opt in via mobile and online banking. Simply log in and select "Overdraft Protection" under "Account Services" in the left-hand menu. 

Bounce Protection Plus

This option extends overdraft coverage for everyday one-time consumer debit card and ATM transactions from your checking account. If you don’t have enough money in checking to cover a charge, Bounce Protection Plus can cover those items – until your account has a balance of negative $500. Transactions of $20 or less will be paid with no fee. Transactions greater than $20 will be paid and assessed a fee.

Is this right for me? 

If you want one-time debit card and ATM transactions to be authorized, even if you don't have the funds in your account. Ascend checking is not eligible.

What are the fees?

A $25 fee applies for a charge greater than $20. You'll pay no more than one fee, regardless of how many transactions overdraw your account within a 24-hour period starting at 9 p.m. Central Time.  

When do I need to repay?

Once your account is overdrawn, you'll have 30 days to repay the negative balance.

How do I sign up?

Opt-in and opt-out via mobile and online banking by choosing "Overdraft Protection" under "Account Services" in the left -hand menu,  call us at (800) 533-0035 or stop by a branch to discuss your options.  

 

Bounce Protection

This is our standard overdraft coverage for bills and other payments made by Automated Clearing House (ACH), checks and recurring debit card transactions. If you don’t have enough money in checking to cover a charge, Bounce Protection can cover those items – until your account has a balance of negative $500. Transactions of $20 or less will be paid with no fee. Transactions greater than $20 will be paid and assessed a fee.

Is this right for me?  

If you want to maintain standard coverage. Ascend checking is not eligible.

What are the fees?

An overdraft occurs when there's not enough available balance in your account at the time a transaction is presented to us for payment. Overdrafts can result from checks, ACH and other electronic payments, ATM withdrawals, debit card payments and other types of payment transactions.

We're not obligated to pay any item presented for payment if your account does not contain a sufficient available balance. If we pay an item item greater than $20 and your account is overdrawn, you'll pay a maximum a $25 fee. There's a maximum of one fee per account within a 24-hour time period beginning at 9 p.m. Central Time.

 

If we don't pay an overdraft check or ACH payment, then we'll return it and charge an NSF fee.

Yes, if you don't have access to funds with an Overdraft Protection Source or an Overdraft Line of Credit, you'll be charged a $25 fee if you use Bounce Protection or Bounce Protection Plus to pay an overdraft on transactions greater than $20. If you use an Overdraft Protection Source to cover a transaction, you'll pay a $5 fee. If you use an Overdraft Line of Credit to cover the charge,  you'll pay interest on the charge.  

You'll never pay more than one (1) $25 fee in a 24-hour period, beginning at 9 p.m. Central Time.  

Bounce Protection Plus extends overdraft coverage to one-time debit card transacations and ATM withdrawals. Both programs charge a $25 fee on charges of more than $20. There's a maximum of one fee per checking account within a 24-hour time period beginning at 9 p.m. Central Time.

If you have both set up, you may select whether you would like to pay for an overdraft transaction with an Overdraft Protection Source eligible account or an Overdraft Line of Credit. The default option is a savings account, but you can change the order by selecting "Overdraft Protection" under "Account Settings" in mobile and online banking.   

Bounce Protection and Bounce Protection Plus is a service that's available if you don’t have funds in your savings or access to an Overdraft Line of Credit.
